PowerPoint Presentation by Students During P&P

PowerPoint presentation is a group work done by students for topics such as uses of chemicals in industry and consumers, historical development of pereodic table and atomic structure. Students are encouraged to make their PowerPoint simple with lots of diagram and to the point. Then each group will take turn to present to the class. Marks will be given to the group as part of their formative mark which is 25% of the total marks in their test and exam.

Curriculum Week: "Program Senyum"

"Program Senyum" is a yearly Science programme carried out during the Curriculum Week. Groups of students with the guidance of their Chemistry teachers come out with project and exhibit to be shown to all students in the school. Students develop their soft skills, interpersonal skill and tramwork during this week. A break from the daily routine of T&L can be a refreshing one.

Science Workshop - Microscale Chemistry for Secondary School

his is the science workshop jointly organised by the Malaysian National Commission for UNSECO and UKM which I attended with selected teachers from Selangor. In this workshop teachers carried out experiment using microscale apparatus instead of the ocnventional appratus. Using microscale apparatus, costs, time spent and chemical wastes produced can be reduced. Experiments can be done individually, can be repeated and most of all increase students understanding of chemistry concepts.

Techniques of Answering Chemistry SPM Questions

Techniques of answering Chemistry SPM Questions were given to students in mid-July to expose students to the correct way of presenting their answers for the structure and essay type of questions. Students are given a list of common words, followed by a session on 'mistakes commonly done by students in SPM'. The session ends with worksheet for students to do.
